Questioni have throbbing pain in left foot which comes and goes within minutes but last for hours. when i am walking my leg strength is effected also the throbbing causes my foot to twitch.
AnswerHello Anita
Well, unfortunately I know EXACTLY the pain you are describing. I had it too. Simply put, awful pain!!
What is happening is your arch muscle, of which runs down the middle of your foot, from front to back, is stretched. The problem is that THIS type of muscle does NOT stretch. So when we stretch it, the pain "comes a running!'
Here is what I had to do (time does NOT cure it, exercise does NOT cure it, sorry);
I went to 3 different podiatrists. The third one was a good one. He put some cream on the bottom of my foot to numb all the nerves. Then he injected with a very fine needle; I did not even feel pressure. The first two podiatrists tried to stick a needle directly in - but forget that! That was worse pain than the pain I already had!! One sprayed cold air on the foot before he tried to use the needle. Tell them forget it if they do not numb the nerves quickly. Or go to another podiatrist. He will inject cortozone into the problem area. This will get rid of the pain.
Now to keep further injury from happening again, go on the internet and buy a pair of plastic arch supports for your shoes and do stretching exercises every day. In your kitchen, stand at the counter top, one leg back, foot firmly on the floor. Move your body forward, stretching the back of your calf. Do at least 10 times, more if your calf is really tight. Do 2-3 times a day. Be sure to do one leg, then the other. Tight calf muscles cause the arch muscle to stretch.
There is other advice I can give you when you get the pain under control. So please write again when you are feeling better.
Thanks for the question.
