QuestionI think it's plantar fasciitis, but I don't have an appointment to get it looked at until July 25th. I've read that the pain is supposed to be worse in the morning, but mine doesn't hurt as much then. My pain tends to get worse as the day goes on.
I take Celebrex twice a day and it doesn't seem to do much for my pain. I also have ankylosing spondylitis. I've read that it is rare for AS to occur with plantar fasciitis. Is the treatment the same as for the plantar fasciitis?
What would help the most?
Thanks,
Elaine
AnswerHello Elaine
What WILL help immediately is to get the pressure off.
Go to Walmart to the Pharmacy section; they have a display of Dr. Sholls shoe inserts. Buy a good pair. I bought the $19 ones that are for heavy-duty walking; have brown on the bottom. This will cushion your feet so the pain will be a lot less.
It is rare for the two to be togther. You are getting hit twice with problems. Sorry to hear that. The treatment probably will be the same. But your doctor will know when he looks at the problems.
This will help also;
Stand in your kitchen, hands on the counter top. Put one foot back, bend the other knee a bit forward. Push your body forward toward the counter top. Stretch the calf on the leg set back. Go back and forth 10 times. Then reverse the feet.
Stretching the calf muscles makes the muscles in the feet not so tight so there will be more blood flow in the feet. This will help the pain also.
Do this every day. Takes about 5 minutes of your time.
Hope you feel better. Any more questions, please write again.
