WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO. WHAT IS THE HEAL TIME AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT. OUR NEXT APPOINTMENT ISN'T FOR 2 WEEKS AND I AM ANXIOUS TO KNOW. THANKS
AnswerHi Tina,
It would be tough to be accurate without knowing the exact problem and what procedure will be done. I would highly recommend that you speak to your surgeon.
With my patients undergoing any foot surgery, I give them extensive details well in advance of the surgery especially with kids. If a patient has a concern or questions, I am happy if they call for clarification.
Generally, removing a bone spur involves healing in a surgical shoe for 2-3 weeks. Stitches stay in for about 10 days. There is often swelling and pain the first few days. It has been my experience that kids heal quickly and you may expect return to a soft shoe in about 3 weeks or less.
Sorry that I can't be more specific.
Good luck with the surgery.
Sincerely,
