Question
I have a morton's neuroma for one year. What are the necessary steps performed for cryosurgery? How many procedures before relieve? Does nerve die out? Will it come back again? What is success rate? What is cost per procedure? Will insurance cover? Are there former patient's testaments on cryosurgery? Any surgeons in Phila., Pa area?

Answer
Hi Joseph,

I will refer you to my site on Cryosurgery for treatment of your foot neuroma.

Success rate for foot cryosurgery is about 80-90%.  Only a portion of the foot nerve is destroyed and will regenerate as a more normal nerve. The problem can return just like any other treatment, however the area can easily be treated again.

You typically require 1-2 treatments.  Some insurances cover the procedure.  Cost ranges from 600-1200 dollars, that is an estimate only.

I would imagine that all Drs. have patients that will verify their success and relief, you will need to ask individual Drs.

I personally have many patients with success.

Keep in mind that this is not a magic bullet.  It is a successful treatment option with minimal side effects or complications, especially when compared to nerve removal of endoscopic ligament release.

Good Luck.
