Question
I stepped on a piece of glass a couple of years ago. I thought I had got it out but found out months later that I could still feel it, but it was never too much of a bother and I figured since I got a tetant shot, I was ok. Now, three years later, I started getting spasms up my leg. Could it be my foot. It does hurt. Could it travel up my arteries and cause serious problems? Like death? I am so worried.

Answer
Hi D,

It is highly unlikely that the glass would get into your arteries and cause death.

It is possible that the glass could move and cause pain in your foot, however it is also very possible that there is no connection between the two.

Typically, glass will be walled of and surrounded by scar tissue in the foot.

With all of that being said, I would see a Podiatrist ASAP to have an exam, x-rays and possibly an MRI if that is indicated.  I wouldn't panic or worry, but would certainly have an evaluation to find the cause of your pain.

I'm sure everything will work out fine.
