QuestionHello Doctor,
My husband has an intraarticular calcaneus fracture. He is going in for surgery tomorrow and will have to have the joint and the heel bone put in place with screws.
We are being told that this is a standard outpatient surgery. Is that true? Originally, we were told he would be in the hospital two days so I am fearful insurance is rushing us out.
Thank you!
AnswerHi Jina,
I may be a little late on this one. The good news is that calcaneal fractures are often performed on an outpatient basis. It would be rare to do this as an inpatient unless there were complicating factors.
Sounds like you're OK.
Sincerely,
