Questioni have a white discoloration on a quarter of my greater toenail. the nail is thick and hard to cut. how do i get rid of it? could this be a side effect of losing the nail 20 years ago? i heard that someone has urinated on their toe when they had fungus and it went away. is this true?
AnswerHi Earl,
Often after an injury to a nail, you may see thickening and discoloration of the nail. This may be a toenail fungus or other type of nail disorder. The best course of action is to see a Podiatrist for a fungal stain or culture to identify the type of infection. After that, a treatment can be discussed. If it is fungus there are oral and topical medications.
As far as the urine, I would pass on that. Sounds like that could get messy. There is no evidence that urine actually works.
