QuestionThe outer side of my left foot below the small toe to right before the arch has been very painful with sometimes sharp pains and burning for several weeks. When looking at my foot there is no swelling or redness. This pain and burning has been on and off, but more so the last few day.
Any advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
AnswerHi Linda,
There are many things that could cause burning on the side of your foot. You may be walking on the outside of your foot and compressing a nerve. The most common cause of this problem is improper shoes. I would look into getting new shoes, especially for sports etc. If the problem continues, I would see a Podiatrist for an exam and x-ray. You may benefit from custom orthotics/arch supports.
For temporary relief try ice when there is burning.
