QuestionI play tennis and run a lot. Recently I lost a toe nail but before I lost it, it was all blakc and blue and it had a bump underneath it. The toe nail is gone and what was left was this red bump(looked like dried blood.) I can see a new toe nail growing in but will the red sack thing leave once it grows in.
AnswerHi Geena,
Runners commonly have bleeding beneath the toenails and often have injury to the nail bed that causes a re raised type lesion known as granulation tissue. This will typically heal before the nail grows out.
If the area worsens or becomes painful, I would see a Podiatrist for an evaluation.
