Question
My 7 year old daughter has bilateral heal pain.  She just finished playing soccer this a.m. and the pain seems to be worse.  She has low arches and she wears down her shoes on the inside edge of her shoes.  Could she have plantar fascitis at this young age?  Should we see her pediatrician or a specialist of some sort?  Maybe orthotics would be beneficial.  Thanks so for your time.

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

It is possible for a child to have fasciitis but more common would be a condition known as Calcaneal Apophysitis or Sever's Disease.

Please see the article below:

These conditions often require a visit to a Podiatrist for an x-ray and possibly orthotic devices if necessary.

Hope all goes well.
