Question
My bunion surgery on my little toe has left me with severe pain to the tip of my little toe.  The screw moved after surgery and the bone isn't properly aligned.  Also I have developed a stress fracture on the second metatarsul.  Any suggestions.  My little toe doens't bend at the joint.

Answer
Hi Peggy,

Sorry for the delay.

You will need to see a podiatrist that can identify the source of your pain.  You may have a pinched nerve to the small toe.  You may have a non-healed surgical site of the bone which is known called a non-union.  And you certainly have alignment problems which may benefit from orthotic devices.  The last option may be a surgery to remedy the failed surgery.

I would consider getting some opinions from other podiatrists.

Sincerely,
