QuestionMy feet and ankles have started to hurt lately. They hurt a lot in the mornings when I wake up. They tingle and hurt so badly I feel like they are separated and I want to put on an ankle braise to stabilize them.
I started a new aerobic dance class about 4 weeks ago, and wonder if this is what is making them hurt. However, this class is only one hour, once a week, so I wouldn't think this is it. I haven't been doing much exercise for the last few years, ever since I had horrible chin splints that wouldn't go away. I still feel my chin splints every now and then when I exercise.
I am in my early 40s and otherwise very healthy, not taking any medications and not being seen by a doctor for anything.
AnswerHi Helena,
The foot and ankle pain that you describe can be a result of starting aerobics. This can also cause shin splints. I would see a podiatrist and have a custom pair of orthotic devices made for you. Also, consider stretches before and after exercise and use ice for sore areas.
