QuestionI have been researching all morning, and I cannot figure out what is going on with my foot. It started yesterday when I was laying down on the sofa taking a nap. I am 25 weeks pregnant, so I get tired very easily. I was about to actually nod off when I noticed my foot had started to hurt. I still had my shoes on so I kicked them off to see if that helped, but it didn't seem to make any difference. the pain just got progressively worse throughout the day until I couldn't bear weight on it at all. I asked my husband to run my foot last night because it hurt so badly, and was able to deduce that the pain was coming from the outside of my foot. It is my right foot that hurts, and to try to explain exactly where the pain is.....its under my pinkie toe, around where the widest part of my foot is, and runs for about an inch and a half down the outside underneath of my foot. I can normally take alot of pressure when someone is rubbing my feet, but If my husband pushed my foot up even slightly, (as If I were bearing weight on it, standing) I would get the pain shooting up through my ankle. What in the world would cause this kind of pain, with no injury at all? I have broken toes before, and I would relate this pain when standing to very close to that pain. I have to get up to use the restroom constantly, so I have noticed that it is way more painful when i first get up to head to the bathroom, then on my way back from the bathroom. So the longer I force myself to stand on it, the less painful it is. but after I sit down and put my foot up for a while the pain is unbearable again when I get up the next time. Please help. Will the go away on it own? I cant take any meds, or have any xrays, so I don't think going to the doc will do my any good. Please help. Thank you
BTW I tried wrapping my foot in hopes that it would help, but the pressure of the wrap was again, unbearable....I couldn't stand it for more than about 1 min before I asked the hubby to take it off.
AnswerHi Chelli,
There are several possibilities, stress fracture, gout or tear of the soft tissue. Since you cannot have an xray, this should be seen by a podiatrist. You may require a soft cast. If this is gout a blood test may be helpful.
