Question
bunions on right foot (Hallus Fallux) and plantar facilitias, fallen arches, i am age 46 weigh 150 lbs 5 ft 2 ins.  i have orthotics , the cork type, in running shoes, work shoes, however it seems i just cannot put my feet flat on the floor at home. i was told there is a type of stocking to support the arch, please any solutions, i am hoping to have the minimal incision srgery for my bunions on the right foot removed soon, but seems i am always in constant pain forevr, i go for regualr check up at the podiatirst, he claims there is no other fix for the fallen arches, it s uncomfortable to wear running shoes in the house. pleas help me please, seems my whole body is going out of alignament,one foot is extememly flat with the fallen arch.

Hi Sue,

I would seek another opinion if you are not getting more options.  For the plantar fasciitis you may require a different type of orthotic, the material in the arch is probably not adequate.  I would also consider stretching, possible cortisone injections, anti-inflammatories and weight loss.  In addition, physical therapy may be helpful.  when my patients fail conservative therapy, I move to a minimally-invasive procedure known as CryoMax or ultrasound-guided foot cryosurgery.  This is an excellent option for heel pain with minimal down time after the procedure.  See my site below.  Also in the proper patients there are implants that go into the foot to realign the flatfoot.  These are called subtalar implants.  Again I would seek some other opinions from other podiatrists.
