Question
Hi,
i have had ankle pain for about 3 year now and it still hurts. I am 14 years
old. I was in a lacrosse game and i stepped on the lacrosse ball and twist my
ankle outwards, i fell on top of it and also a heavy set girl fell right on top of
me so about maybe 200 pounds went on it. It swelled up but my parents said
just put ice on it. about a month after i was in so much pain. My mom took
me to the doctor and she recommended me to this ankle specialist. He
recommended physical therapy. I went for one month and 3 times a week. My
physical therapist said i probably tore ligaments and there was nothing they
could do about it now. I stopped that and it felt fine for abut 2 weeks. The
pain came back and i went back to the doctor a year later and he gave me a cortisone shot and a braces to wear when i play lacrosse. I went back 6 weeks
later still in pain he said go for a mri and i went and there was nothing wrong.
Now  here i am now about 3 years later still in pain.

Answer
Hi Noel,

I would seek another opinion from a podiatrist and see about a repeat MRI for your ankle pain.  You may require custom inserts or orthotics to put in your shoes.
