QuestionI have this odd sensation in my left foot. The best way to describe it is that it feels like I have my cellphone on vibrate and my foot is on top of it! (Strange, huh?) Several months ago I was treated for plantar fasciitis - tried exercises and icing, finally ended up with a cortisone shot that seemed to help. I've had this vibrating feeling several times before, but it was intermittent. Today it has been going on ALL day. Any thoughts?
AnswerHi Jan,
The sensation in the bottom of the foot is likely due to an injured or compressed nerve in your heel or even the arch area. Nerve entrapement is common with heel pain. If an anesthetic injection around the nerve relieves the pain that would diagnose a nerve injury. Cortisone injections can help temporarily. I would look into cryosurgery if the problem continues. Also know as CryoMax or ultrasound-guided cryosurgery, a probe is used to freeze the abnormal foot nerve to give relief. See my site for more info.
