QuestionHello ,Dr Katz!
I had 2 neuroma surgeries betw 3rd and 4th dorsal and plantar after having numerous alcohol and cortisone injections. The latest plantar surgery helped for a while and then pained returned back. I decided to go for cryo and has the procedure in NY, Manhattan. The doc did not use your technique to locate the nerve, they explained to me that they don't practice it because it's very painful. The procedure helped me for a while again, but now i'm in pain. It's a different kind of pain , not always, feels different on diff. surfaces and mostly better when i'm barefooted. The scar is very very sensitive at times , but everything around is pretty much numb. So many different sensations at different times, obviously i won't describe all of them :)
Do you think is it worth to try cryo again ? I'm ready to travel to Tampa no question. I beleive that amount of scar tissues that i have won't exactly help, but i'm looking for any hope at this point.
Thank you so much!!!
Roman
AnswerHi Roman,
Sounds like you've been through quit alot with neuroma treatments. While I cannot guarantee that you will get relief, I have had excellent results. Your case is a bit more complex. I do agree that using a stimulator is painful. I stopped using the stimulator and have personally developed a technique using a color power doppler to identify the nerves and structures. I am one of a handful that uses this advanced technique. My results have been superior to using the stimulator and certainly superior to just applying the probe without guidance. Take a look at my site for the explanation of ultrasound guided cryo, also known as Cryomax.
I believe that cryo is certainly an option still and your best option based on your history.
