Question
24, female, atlanta

my foot pain started back in 2003. it started with a small tingling/shock like feeling on the left outer ankle. over the years it got stronger and the left heel started to get in pain. At one point i recieved a cortizone on my left knee which left my leg paralyzed for a few hours and i fell on my left ankle, which may have further injured the problem. the shock is almost gone but there is a deep ankle pain. also my left heel hurts. in the last 2 years my left knee started to hurt, which has been on and off. recently my left hip has also started to hurt. sometimes it feels like there is a pulling on the left buttocks. i have a wart on my left leg also. i had a nerve conduction test a few years ago which came out normal. i don't have thyroid issues, i had a gland removed in 2005 (benign) but i'm not on any medication for that. i've seen osteopaths, neurologists, physical therapists, chiropractors, and podiatrists. I am looking to go back to a neurologist or a podiatrist, who would be better? Thank you for your time and your help. I'm afraid i won't be able to walk in a few years... thank you again

Answer
HI Theresa,

It does sound like you may have damaged a nerve in the foot.  You may also have some type of arthritis.  It sounds like you've seen the appropriate specialsists.  Even with a normal nerve conduction study there can be some nerve damage.  You could get second opinions from another neurologist and podiatrist.

I would seek out a podiatrist that does cryosurgery. They can do an appropriate evaluation of the nerves and if necessary you could have a nerve freezing procedure that could stop much of your pain.

See my website to learn more about cryosurgery of the foot and the CryoMax procedure.
