QuestionI suffered a small fracture on my right calcaneus on April 25,2009 after I fall from a stair and my doctor put a cast on it for 1 month. After one month he remove the cast and had Xray on my ankle, and it was found out that the fracture was still there. He did not return the cast again. He told me that i will have just to exercise my feet so that the muscles will not be stiff but should not put weight on that for another one month. And he told me also the the fracture will just heal itself. My question is if its just okay to exercise even my ankle still swells? does the exercise will not make the fracture heal slower? I'm wondering why still my ankle swells even it was immobilized for one month. Do i have to continue my exercises? What else should i do to make the fracture heal faster? Please help me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH...
AnswerHI Kenneth,
Physical therapy would be helpful. Don't do too much exercise just a little.
