QuestionMy husband has been sick since Feb. He has had nonA,B,C,D...hepatitis associated aplastic anemia, near kidney failure, PE,and fungal meningitis. He currenlty has low platelets around 29,000. His big first toes often bleed around his toenails, in the cuticle area. Is this related to any of his illnesses? Is this a concern we should mention?
AnswerMake sure that his toes don't hit the tips of his shoes. This can loosen the toenail and cause the bleeding you describe. Make sure that the nails are trimmed slightly shorter than the tip of the toe. Tell the internist anyhow-just in case.
Good Luck and a Speedy Recovery
