QuestionHello,
I am a healthy 28 year old female. But, for the past month, I have had tingling in my left foot only. Sometimes my arch tingles and sometimes the outside edge of my foot tingles. I have also had some muscle twitching in my left arch. Some days it goes away completely. Some days it is there all day.
There is no pain or numbness in my foot. Just a tightness and tingling feeling. It gets better if I move around or move my foot.
As a side note, I recently lost my job where I wore high-heels every day. Now, I mostly run around in non-supportive flip-flops or bare feet? The tingling started right after I lost my job.
Any ideas?
AnswerI wrote an article about 2 months ago about the dangers of flip-flops. The whole article is available at AnkleNFoot.com.
When you wear heels the calf muscle and tendons tighten up to the length given to them by the shoe.
When you wear flip-flops-not only do you overstretch the calf muscle-but also the nerves-which causes the tingling. Your foot is also doing overtime by trying to grip the flip-flops with each step. When you move your foot around, you loosen up the pressure across the nerve.
Try sandals with a little bit of a heel instead-we have some examples at our online web-store at AnkleNFoot.com.
Hopes this helps!
