QuestionI have been having trouble with my knee, but my 2nd toe underside has been extremly painful...what can this be?
AnswerThis Chicago Podiatrist says.....
The fact that your knee is bothering you may mean that you are keeping your knee stiff when walking to prevent pain. This may cause more pressure on the second metatarsal toe joint-which would produce the pain you are referring to-metatarsalgia. See our website AnkleNFoot.com for additional explanations of metatarsalgia.
You can also check our website store for examples of metatarsal pads-which may give you some relief.
Try wrapping the knee and find a pair of shoes that seem to put the least amount of pressure in both the knee and toe joint.
If these symptoms persist, then you should see a Podiatrist Board Certified in Orthopedics. They will be able to recognize if the knee has direct involvement and best course of treatment.
Hope this helps!
