QuestionHi,
Last year I sustained an injury to my right foot (the midfoot region). I was sent for x-rays after the pain presented, but nothing was found. Also, everytime I put on my sneakers, my foot would swell up and go numb. I have been to multiple doctor's for the problem and they all seem to think that I possibly had a stress fracture, but there was no indication on the x-rays (i had 2 separate sets done). I was given both naprosyn and something else that was supposed to help (neither did). I was also told to wear thick soled athletic shoes and arch support (inserts) because that would help. I was wondering if I did fracture something in my foot and it wasn't treated what I can expect because to this day I have pain in my foot. Is it too late to do anything about it? Would I need a stiff soled walking boot? If it is not a stress fracture, what could it be and should I be worried and what can I do for the pain??
Any information you can give to me would be hlpful.
Thanks,
Stacy
AnswerHi Stacy,
I would consider having an MRI of your foot. You could have damage to the nerves or soft tissue.
The MRI may show some problem that is not evident on xray. In addition, I would consider physical therapy to help the healing and help with the pain.
