QuestionHi sir,
I have been experiencing severe pains on the upper sides below my "ankle knot" bone and above my upper side heels. I went to the emergency room and I was x-rayed and the doctor told me my tendon might be inflamed. He prescribe vicodin and motrin for me. These medication makes me very drowsy and my heartbeat or breathing makes me very tired -like i am about to pass-out. i have stop taking these medications and also i have tried bengay, other ointments, ice patches, hot water but anytime I wake in the morning or when I relax myself in bed on the couch and try to walk, I feel intense pain on the upper sides or below the "ankle knot" bone. Can you explain what is really the matter with my foot. Least I forget, I was doing some running for the past month every morning by the way. I told the Doctor at the emergency room about the running and he told me to pull back of it completely for some time but to no avail. It has been about a month since I started experiencing this pain.
AnswerIt states clearly on my profile that I only answer public questions
So I may answer this question I will change to public.
This Chicago & Elmhurst Podiatrist says.......
Dear Anonymous,
You have a variation of plantar fasciitis that affects the Achilles tendon.
Skip all the topicals-they do not work. Skip the Vicodin and stick with max dose of Motrin.
You can log on to AnkleNFoot.com for additional info on plantar fasciitis & Achilles pain
Just click on the heel area on "where does it hurt" for the plantar fasciitis and on the ankle area for Achilles tendonitis
You can try a night splint. Check out our website store at AnkleNFoot.com for examples.
Go see a Board Certified Podiatrist for a correct diagnosis and treatment.
The x-rays will probably need to be repeated because the x-rays that you took were not with you standing(weight bearing).
Hope this helps!
Good Luck !
