QuestionFor the past five years, I've had a repetitive vibration or tingling in my right foot. The sensation is similar to the feeling of hitting one's crazy bone: a sharp "electric tingle" that lasts about three seconds. The feeling occurs repeatedly every 20 to 25 seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It doesn't hurt and I've gotten used to the annoyance, but have always wondered what causes it. I am 56 years old and am active in racquetball, softball, golf and jogging. Should I see an podiatrist or neurologist? Thank you.
AnswerThis Chicago & Elmhurst Podiatrist says.......
Dear Allan,
Go see a Board Certified Podiatrist in Orthopedics & or Surgery who can diagnose your foot problem and treat it also.Unless the nerve involvement is higher up than the leg-which the Podiatrist should be able to diagnose-then it may be treated by a Neurologist or Orthopedist.
Sound like a trapped nerve-known as neuropathy or neutitis.
Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
