Question
Recently, I had a fairly serious case of cellulitis/impetigo on my right foot, due to circulatory problems and a drug reaction. Both the infection and the reaction have been treated, but the foot itself is still having some issues. The skin is extremely dry and leathery where the tissue damage is healed/healing, and gets very itchy at times due to this. I have been applying some lotion to it, which helps, but figured I should check with an expert (or at least an AllExpert) about what else I could do. Also, will this apparent scarring be permanent, or will the foot recover its original texture and color in time?

Answer
This Chicago & Elmhurst Podiatrist says.......

Dear Trey,

Continue to apply a good skin cream that contains vitamin A & E.
Check out our website AnkleNFoot.com for examples.
Use a gentle moisturizing soap-for dry skin.
Your skin will improve- as long as you hydrate and protect it-probably not 100%,but close depending on the care you give the skin on your foot & leg.
Gentle massage of the scar tissue will help also.

Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
