Question
Hi Dr.
My co-workers are assembling a group to play drop-in  indoor
soccer. This facility has a full sized pitch. with fake grass, and a smaller hard cushioned surface area.
I would like to join them but am unsure what to wear.
I am a small heavy guy with small sensitive feet-I am always buying new shoes, adding insoles, etc., but I do enjoy running on my treadmill with a good pair of fitted runners and extra 'get' insoles.. Not  much for  foot agility but comfy.
Can I just wear these or should I wear a more specialised shoe?
My one time actually playing soccer outdoors a few years ago I wore actual outdoor soccer cleats and my feet got so sore I had to quit.
Thanks!

Answer
You are better off wearing a supportive shoe that feels good than a specialized shoe that does not.

All the best,
Andrew Schneider, DPM
