QuestionWhen I was 23 I was involved in a car accident that caused me to have a lisfranc injury. After 4 months of treatment of an orthopedic doctor I was mistreated and got a 2nd opinion. My second opinion was amazed that I had not had surgery to correct my displacement. I had a fusion done and have had serious chronic pain that bothers me every day. I am considering amputation and don't know where to turn to get relief. I am currently 27 and I have a huge future to live but worry about the chronic pain I will have to deal with.
AnswerJennifer,
I can only imagine the pain you must be in to consider amputation. My suggestion is to follow up with a podiatrist or foot and ankle orthopedist who can reassess you and give you options. These options may range from a revision of the surgery to a custom brace to wear. I do hope you find relief soon.
All the best,
