QuestionI have 2 Plantar Fibromas in the center of my right foot. I am a diabetic and have seen one podiatrist for this who prescribed a cream that did not do anything for it. They are becoming quite painful. I have private insurance (Aetna Choice POS II), do you accept insurance and is your procedure covered by insurance? I am in St. Petersburg and would be willing to drive over to Tampa to be treated if the treatment would be covered by my insurance. What is the success rate of this procedure?
AnswerHi Cindy,
Cryosurgery for fibroma is not covered by insurance. The treatment is considered an off-label use for cryosurgery. I would also need to see the fibroma to make sure you would be a good candidate. In addition, you may require several treatments and there is no guarantee that they will resolve. However, surgical removal is very painful with scarring and a high recurrence rate.
