Question
foot
Hello,
On 9/1/10 I tore my lateral gastroc and strained my achilles and was in a boot for a month then attempted to go down steps on 10/1 but heel gave out and crushed foot under me landing at the bottom. I have had so much swelling in my foot/ankle that they keep casting it..there were no breaks that they found w/ x-rays and mri. My foot is still swollen alot and i now have a large lump below toes on forefoot that is hard and numb. I am still in a lot of pain and i am non-weight bearing but can't imagine even trying to put weight on it cause its so painful just sitting. My toes were dk purple as well as ankle/foot but that is going away but i do have an area now that looks like it was burned..i think my foot may have blistered?? but that area has gotten worse.
My concern is with the lump and the pain but foot doc still believes the bruising/ swelling all from original gastro/achilles tears. But that is NOT where my pain is...it is all in my foot! I do get spasms alot now too and toes try to curl and its excruciatingly painful.
I have been out of work for 2 wks so i switched from oxycotin/oxycodone to percocet to attempt going back cause i have a sit down job but i have been so uncomfortable that i am not sure i can even handle sitting at a desk all day. Even w/ all the meds i was taking i was constantly in pain.
PLEASE HELP!!!
AnswerHi Cathy,
You obviously have a severe soft tissue injury to your foot. I would imagine that the MRI would have found some abnormality. When you have severe prolonged swelling you can develop blisters. I would seek a second opinion from another podiatrist and consider having someone else look at the MRI and maybe consider having a repeat MRI.
