Nerve Pain in Right Foot

Question
I had a neuroma removed 5 years ago, started getting like electrical shock and burning pain.  Dr. said my neuroma grew back, got 7 alcohol injections.  No relieve, started doing accupunture.  So far only one treatment, but no better (getting another one next Thursday).  Dr. said that I would probably need surgery, but he would have to cut the bottom of my foot for this.  I do not want to do this, can you help me or would cyrosurgery belp?

Answer
It sounds like you're encountering a common complication known as a stump neuroma.  Cryosurgery can help, if it is localized with ultrasound well-enough.  If surgery is required, I disagree that it has to be through an approach on the bottom of your foot.  If it comes to that, perhaps you would want a second opinion to be sure.

All the best,
Andrew Schneider, DPM
