QuestionI injured my big toe and had to have the nail removed. I have been following the care instructions and it appears to be healing. Best case scenario, how long until I am able to wear tennis shoes? I am a working mom of two young girls so I have not been able to rest as much as I would like. By 8:00pm, I'm in a lot of pain. Will the fact that I'm unable to rest a lot slow down the healing process?
AnswerThis Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Toenail Laser Podiatrist says.......
Dear Malathi,
For your removed toenail-
Apply a little antibiotic ointment daily-or a little Vaseline and then cover with a little gauze that clings to itself-do not tape-just let the gauze hold itself and then put on a nice cushy sock.
Then go try the tennis shoe-Your toe will let you know. If it says "owe"-try more cush, a different shoe -or wait a little longer.Remove dressings when not wearing a shoe
Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
