Question
I woke up about 4 mornings ago with some toenail pain in both my big toes. I didnt drop anything on them or anything. One side went away but my left big toenail is painful. Only when I apply pressure does it get sensitive. Also today I noticed a light purple spot on the left bottom corner of my toenail. Its peasized but very painful to the touch! What is that and is it serious?

Answer
This Chicago Podiatrist, Elmhurst Podiatrist & South Loop Podiatrist says.......

Dear Jessica,
For your painful toes-----
Perhaps you wore very tight shoes--or ran in tight or loose shoes. If so-sounds like a bruise & should improve quickly. If not-and the spot persists or grows-or just appeared for no good reason is a good reason to have a Board Certified Podiatrist look at the toe.
Good Luck
Hope This Helps
