Question
Hi. I have been wondering, for a few months, I have had some pain in my big toe, right below the nail. The toe itself looks fine and there doesn't seem anything wrong. The pain has been going on for a while. The pain isn't bad, but it hurts whenever I touch it. This pain is only on my left foot and is right on the bump right before my toenail starts. Thanks.

Answer
These Chicago Podiatrists, Elmhurst Podiatrists & South Loop Orthopedic Podiatrists say.......

Dear  Kenneth,
For your toenail pain---
Sound like some irritation to the interphalangeal joint of your big toe.(That's the bump behind the nail). No different than aggravating an ankle or any other joint. If it's in another area-please re-describe.
Try PRICE
Protect-Wear a wrap or tape  around the the area of pain if possible and limit the movements that aggravate it.
Rest-Speaks for itself.
Ice- As much as possible for pain-up to 1 hour 2-3 times a day in area of pain, for up to a week
Compress-Ace wrap or similar.
Elevate-Will help if it throbs or swells at the end of the day.( not in this case)

Go to our website store at AnkleNFoot.com for examples of wraps or sleeves for your toe.

Hope This Helps!
