short sudden foot pain

Question
Lately I have been experiencing short stabbing pain in my left foot. The pain lasts about 5 seconds. When it first started it was a few times a a day. It has gotten worse and happens numerous times daily. It happens no matter what I'm doing. Standing laying down sitting walking or driving. To my knowledge I have not injured my foot. I'm almost positive I have a bone spur on my heel and this is a completely different pain then what the spur causes. It appears to be towards the top of my foot close to the ankle. It's never lasted more than 10 seconds but when it hits it's like getting stabbed with needles or getting an electrical shock. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

Dear Todd,
For your foot pain. Sounds like you are irritating the nerve on the top of the foot somewhere along the course of the nerve. Most probably it is getting pinched by your shoegear or a spur on top of your foot or ankle. There is a small chance that it could be related to a pinched nerve in the lower back.If you find that it is your shoegear- then do not lace as tight across the top.
Best to have an accurate diagnosis by a Board Certified Podiatrist.
Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
