Good Afternoon Sir,
I had a bike accident since 13th April,2012 which i broke the middle of the shaft of my left femur and also about 6 inches crack/split of the bone at the area of the cut

. I did not had any wound on my flesh. I had an ORIF with 8 screw and a plate on the femur. I have been on Physioterapy exercises and  I am almost 4 months now. my doctor says i shd still continue using the 2 crutches and also step on the left leg gradually for the next one month.
My problem is that I dont know how to start the little walking, whenever i try it, i will almost fall down, the muscle is still weak i guess but i always do my honme exercises. i have resume my normal official activities.also my doctor discourages me taking Calcium tablets. by now i my leg should be firm on the ground. When i walk, my feet is so aching. please Advice.

Answer
Dear Tajudeen,
For your foot pain ....
Your physiotherapist should show you the proper way to use crutches to limit putting weight on the injured leg. That is the person who needs to work with you.
If you have one crutch-then use it on the L side to lessen the weight on the leg.
If you have two crutches-then use both to lessen the weight on the leg.
Just let the foot & leg touch & rest on the ground for several days-until you can begin putting more weight on the foot & leg.
Sleep with the leg elevated & elevate when it throbs

Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
