Answer
Dear Beverly,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
For your calcaneal spur. Heel spurs are caused by tight gastrocnemius, excess weight or activity, and sometimes by some arthritic processes. Check http://anklenfoot.com/Education/YourFeet/Heel/tabid/102/Default.aspx for additional info.
It is u better to address the issues causing the heel pain-whether it is losing weight, decreasing activity,or starting a stretching program. Best treatment is stretching your plantar fascia & your gastrocs, sometimes orthotics help also. Perhaps try a night splint.
If this does not work- see your local podiatrist!

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
