Question
Hello:

Perhaps you may have an answer to my question regarding shoe size.  How much space should there be between the large toe and the end of the shoe, either running or dress shoes?

I thank you for your reply.

Answer
Dear Kenneth,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
When fitting shoes, the widest part of your foot should fit/match the widest part of the shoe by the sole.Turn the shoe over & it should be obvious. There should be about half an inch to inch space in the toes. Most important is that your foot should not slide into the front of the shoe when walking or running-and so if your foot doesn't slide in the shoe & the widest part matches the widest part, then even a quarter inch may be sufficient---or according to the shoe style-an inch may not be too much. The size of the shoe may need to be up to a half size larger to accommodate orthotics-if needed.
Good Luck!
