QuestionIn 2009 I received a diagnosis of bilateral foot degenerative arthritis with pes planus and now I am diagnosed with bilateral ankle arthritis (traumatic) and in 2013 right knee arthritis with locking episodes. Is there a possibility that the bilateral foot triggered the ankle and
knee condition?
AnswerDear Antoinne,
This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,
For your pes planus & bilateral ankle arthritis.....
These conditions are known to cause problems with the knees, hips & lower back.
It's part of the kinetic chain---you know the song--the foot bone's connected to the leg bone, the leg bone's connected to the knee bone.
Being the right weight, wearing good foot gear & possible orthoticsmay help with some of your issues.
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
