QuestionHello Dr. Tsatsos, thank you for taking this inquiry.
One year ago I started to feel pain in my right ankle which made it painful to walk.
I have been to holistic doctors which resulted in injections.
I have had a bone scan, x-rays and a visit to a bone specialist.
The bone specialist's opinion - no arthritis, no cancer.
Gradually the pain left my ankle, which was very tender, and now the pain is on the top of my foot.
It is still painful when I walk. The areas are always associated with tissue swelling.
Even when I am at rest I will sometimes gets shooting pains in the affected area.
At no time prior to the pain beginning last August did I injure or twist or receive a blow to my foot.
The pain is not constant when I am at rest, but noticeable when I walk.
For about 10 months, I wore a soft foot brace, which helped support the foot and relieve some pain.
I wear the brace occasionally now as it relieves a lot of the pain when walking.
Please comment on what you believe is happening with my foot.
I appreciate any advice that you can offer.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Marj Hopp

AnswerDear MARJ,
This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,
There is a cause of the inflamation. The possible causes are arthritis (beginnings of),tendinitis/capsulitis, and biomechanical issues- low arch, high arch with increase in weight or certain activities. This is just to name a few. Visit AnkleNFootCenters.com & seach our database.
If you are overweight, get on a good diet asap & try swimming for exercise for your painful foot.Continue wuth gentle protected activity to help strenthen that area & slow down the effects of any inflammation.
Since the brace works, find the person who can answer why. You will need an exam, fresh x-rays and possible lab work. I know of Dr Marc Lindy in BC-not sure where.
Hope this helps &
Good Luck!
