Question
Doctor,
I have sublaxation affecting my neck, due to an auto accident.About 6 mo. later, I started straight chiropractic treatment, but due to lack of funds,I had to stop.As a result, my life in all aspects, has spiraled downward to the point to which it it hard for me to carry on.I cannot work or enjoy anything that being alive has to offer. As I write this, I have been suffering a horrendous headache for 3 1/2 weeks. My question to you is, can you suggest ant treatment I can perform on myself to relieve this problem ?

Answer
Dear David,

Thank you for your question.

Some of what you report makes me believe that you may not have visited a non-therapeutic straight chiropractor, so it抯 not certain that you were actually being properly checked for vertebral subluxation, a process called 揳nalysis.? The term, subluxation, is not always used correctly as a term of art, particularly in a therapeutic mixing chiropractic setting.  Be that as it may, the process of effecting the correction of a vertebral subluxation is called 揳djustment.? Unfortunately, there is no effective or reliable way of doing either of these essential elements of a non-therapeutic straight chiropractic service - the analysis or the adjustment - to yourself.

Certainly, then, it would be wise to have your spine checked by a non-therapeutic straight chiropractor on a regular basis if you wish to live as free from vertebral subluxation as possible, even if you still wish to pursue therapeutic attention for your accident-related injuries or symptoms.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me again at this site or directly at [email protected].

Sincerely,
James W. Healey, DC
