QuestionI am 45 years old and have had poor posture for all of my adult life. I am not sure why, it just seems natural to stand the way I do with rounded shoulders sporting a little hump back. When I do try to stand straight for any length of time my upper back will ache and by the end of the day my whole back will ache. I would like to correct this problem but I am not sure if it is just from habit or if there is something else that could be contributing to my poor posture that I should consider. Are there exercises or a type of therapy that could help with straighten someone's posture?
AnswerChristine,
Posture as you are aware is something that is largely outside of your conscious control. The way you hold your posture is a direct reflection of the shape of your spine on the inside...
Posture can be corrected.
I would seek out the help of someone who specializes in this area.
'Google' the key words 'Chiropractic BioPhysics' and find a practitioner in your area. They will check you and based upon their findings let you know what degree of correction is possible, and how much work is involved.
Best of luck to you Christine.
