QuestionI am already accepted into chiropractic school and I am trying to make sure it is the right choice for me. I have just a few questions regarding subluxation.
I saw another reader, John, ask a question regarding the legitimacy of vertebral subluxations and ask for some research in support of them. Is there a way you can direct me to studies performed in a different journal? I am understandably skeptical and am looking for a possibly more objective journal for information. Also, how do you detect subluxations? Do they result in a change in muscle tone or something similar? A final, hypothetical question: if a quadriplegic has nerve damage that renders him paralyzed below the neck, how come his organs still function 'normally'? I respect your decision to base your practice around subluxations, as opposed to providing therapy. However, if I am going to share this ideal with friends and future patients, I want to make sure it is legitimate.
Thank you very much and I look forward to your response!
Eric
AnswerGood Day, Eric, and thank you for writing.
I just received your question today, yet it appears you may have posted it a few days ago. I try to answer every question in a timely manner but, occasionally, one slips through on this web-site.
First, welcome to the chiropractic profession. I see you are trying to make a decision about a career or just between the two schools of thought, perhaps. Your questions are quite interesting and I want to give you useful information.
I hope you will understand, then, that I would like the opportunity to get back to you in a few days so that I may give you a complete and more useful answer.
Expect to hear from me shortly.
Sincerely,
James W. Healey, DC
