Answer
Gracy ~

I'm sure you would like a definitive answer to what seems like a straight forward question but I'm afraid that it's far from that simple. Without a good history such as your age, weight, etc, whether you can trigger the pain with certain positions or activities, whether you think you may have strained something with an unaccustomed activity or this seems completely random, whether its happened before and then gotten better or not, as well as scores of other questions that are asked/observed in a consultation/history the truth is that this pain could be caused by nearly anything. Anything ranges from urinary tract infections to herniated lumbar discs.

The gatekeeper into the health care system is the primary care doctor. Their job is not necessarily to treat every condition found but to listen to and examine you and develop an opinion as to the cause of the pain. Tests are then ordered to confirm this working diagnosis. As an example, if the working diagnosis were a kidney infection then blood and urine tests would be ordered to confirm this and appropriate treatment or a referral to the appropriate specialist would be made. But, if mechanical issues were suspected, then lumbar x-rays or an MRI would be ordered to confirm this and appropriate treatment or a referral to the appropriate specialist would be made. There is a long list of possibilities.

Think about it like this: What if your car wouldn't start? It could be because there is no gas in the tank, the starter or fuel pump has failed, or the battery is dead. Upon examination if you observe that the headlights still burn brightly then it can't be a dead battery can it? Diagnosis of the human body isn't really all that much different.

See a primary care doctor. Don't just keep driving and wait until you are stranded on the side of the road.
