QuestionHi and thank you for taking the time to read my question. My fiance' broke his back and neck after a dive off a bridge into shallow water. He was not paralyzed but suffers terrible pain in those areas. He had a fusion done on his neck because his odontiod (I think that is right) was broke completely off. He is developing a hump in his back which is where most of his pain is originating. Nothing was done for the broken back and he suffers terribly. No pain medication helps at all. Are there any treatments that you could recommend? I hate to watch him suffer so terribly and unable to help him. Thank you again for your time and consideration.

AnswerHi Vicki,
Thanks so much for your question.
Before he does any treatment for the pain, he needs to be seen by a neurologest and/or a neurosurgeon. The wrong treatment could increase the pain. Or even worse, paralyze him.
His problem sounds like there is nerve and/or disc damage. This problem may be corrected with surgery or physical therapy or both.
