QuestionMy father is suffering from neck and arms pain. He did a MRI scan and it revealed that c6 and c7 have slightly moved and compress the nerve and thats why he is having pain . He is 52 years old. He is scared of surgery. Is there any possible way to reduce it with out performing a surgery
Answerhi sathya-
There are ways that can be tried before surgery, but most of them deal with the discs (for example, if a swollen disc is pressing on the nerve, you can give steroid injections that will hopefully reduce the swelling, etc). The fact that c6 and 7 have "moved" though- I am not familiar with this? I suppose the treatment would be determined by WHY they have moved- injury, or...?
Chiropractors are always saying that they can 're-align' the spinal column. I have personally never tried a chiropractor , but it might be worth checking to see if you can find a reputable one.
If worst comes to worst, I advise you to remind your father of how it would be to live the rest of his life without being able to walk or do many things he takes for granted now-- this sometimes makes surgery less scary!
good luck
