Questionmy son has broken his c3,4 and 5 bones in his neck and also has severe swelling to his spinal cord. How serious is this injury and will he make a full recovery
Answerhello kerry
this injury is not good. if the swelling persists for any time it will cause bruising of the spinal cord, which is permanent. For example, my injury is due to a bruise- nothing was severed. etc. The cord itself simply doesn't heal.
the doctors will give him medicine to try to decrease the swelling. hopefully it will help quickly.
as for the bones, it is quite possible to heal completely from such an injury- the cord swelling is the dangerous part.
good luck to you both
