take care Jonathan
ANSWER: hi jonathan
weird- here in the US they told me they'd never seen anyone with this injury recover.. in fact i've never had anyone write in with a true cord injury (whether bruised or severed or whatever) that recovered the ability to walk, etc
my vertebrae chipped off and punctured the thecal sac around the cord, thereby bruising it. 'bruise' sounds so simple, huh?? but the end result is the same. i have hands, but nothing below my armpits, and i'm now at 13 yrs since the wreck
they're always doing research but it seems to usually only apply to those who are just injured. and i haven't come across anything that for sure works. it's a bleak thing, isn't it?
i'll check out the link you sent for sure though, and thanks for it. i wish you good luck, and all the rest of us stuck with this whole bad deal...
take it easy- let me know if your situation does change, ok?
thanks

if you wanna talk or chat about it heres my Email
take care Jonathan
ANSWER: hi again-
just to let you know, i talked to the guys at xcell-center.com. they said that for complete injuries they (like everyone else so far) can do nothing. that with incomplete injuries they can do a little, but not everyone is helped by it. plus it costs $10K in US dollars-
you might like going to newmobility.com
they have forums where you can talk to alot of other people who've had similar issues (and alot of others too). they are great at helping problem solve and they've all been through it too...
take it easy out there
good luck

QUESTION: they just do complete thats stupid cause if your incomplete you got a better chance of getting things back mind you i might go for it myself
Answerthey just do complete injuries?? you might want to check with them again, because i had the exact opposite impression.
this is from andrew purdy of xcell-center.com 's email to me:
"But for incomplete SCI, patients do report some improvements. I basically tell patients to not expect more than moving up one level on the ASIA scale. Some patients don抰 receive any benefits, others report improvements. Please find below some listed improvements that patients have reported to us post treatment. Truly complete SCI are basically non-responsive to treatment, "
