QuestionDear Ken,
I have a good friend that dove into the ocean a few days ago and slammed into a sand dune. At the time, he could not feel anything and had to be pulled out of the water since he couldn't move. After being taken to the hospital, it was found that he had a cracked C6 and a plate was put into C7. They also mentioned damage to the spine but I am not exactly sure the extent. They said he would never feel anything below his chest, however he started moving his arms right after surgery which surprised the doctors. Is there a chance he will ever walk again?? I can't get a straight answer from the hospital staff. Any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Amanda Lawrence
AnswerDear Amanda, I am sorry about your friend's accident. My honest opinion is unless they tell you otherwise I'd say yes. Because the fact that they refuse to tell you one way or the other means they don't know themselves. Now just so you understand I am not a doctor. If I were you I'd seek another opinion. I hope this helps and know I'll be thinking of both of you. Sincerely, Ken
