QuestionA month ago my father had a car accident, that generates the displacement of the vertebrae C6-C7. He received methylprednisolone during the early hours and had a surgery fixing vertebrae before 24 hours. After surgery the moving well their arms and wrists, and has sensation throughout the body. But the remains in ICU because he had pneumonia. Now this is moving very weak and less arms.Can you tell me we can expect following a good rehab?. Can he regain some lost motion?.

I'm sorry to hear about your father, that is never an easy thing to go through. I think your father may get a lot of his motion back based on what you've told me. Pneumonia is an illness that can really drain your strength, so once he recovers from his bout of pneumonia I think he will start to regain some of his motion. How much he recovers depends on the severity of his spinal cord injury. I will keep good thoughts for your father with hopes for a quick and complete recovery.
